Bulgarian's Abandoned Children

A documentary was broadcast on 13th September 2007, filmed over 9 months. It shows 75 children, who are in the Mogilino Social Care Home for various reasons, some with learning difficulties, others who are blind or deaf. Most have been there for years and are being subjected to terrible neglect. Photos taken of them when they had arrived show how they are deteriorating from neglect. They are living miserable lives, with no affection or stimulation. They are dying from malnutrion and hypothermia - 5 children dying per year. It is plain to see those who will be next, and soon, if nothing is done. They have not learned to speak because their ‘carers’ do not speak to, or interact with them, and instead are left to rock, or self harm.
We must change this, and other institutions like this in Bulgari, by petitioning and emailing those in power to remind them that Bulgeria is a member of the EU and this SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN!
